◉ Jammu To Katra by Road

If you are traveling in your own vehicle and prefer not to stop at Jammu, you can continue straight on National Highway No. 1A.

  • After approximately 35 km from Jammu, at a point called Domel, the road splits into two, with one road leading to Srinagar and the other to Katra.
  • The distance between Jammu and Katra is approximately 50 km. Buses, both ordinary and luxury, are available from Jammu to Katra at a frequency of 10-15 minutes.
  • Ordinary buses can be boarded from the State Road Transport Bus Stand, which is around 1 km from Jammu Railway Station, while luxury buses are available just outside the Railway Station.
  • It takes around 2 hours to cover the 50 km distance from Jammu to Katra. The terrain is hilly and winding, and passengers may experience nausea and vomiting.

Private taxis for Katra are available from Jammu Tawi Railway Station and Jammu Airport. Many operators also offer taxis on a per-seat basis. However, it is not uncommon for passengers to be approached by taxi drivers at the airport or railway station.
